"The latest Moroccan legislative, communal and regional elections confirm the democratic choice made by King Mohammed VI and will certainly help implement the dynamics of the Kingdom's new development model," said Borloo, reacting in a statement to Wednesday's vote.
"I would like to commend the transparency of the elections and the quality of the organizational process by the Moroccan authorities, and this in a pandemic context. This illustrates once again the resilience of the Kingdom in the face of the health crisis as well as the maturity of its democratic experience," he added.
He also stressed "the high turnout in these elections, especially in the southern provinces where it is higher than the national average which demonstrates the attachment of the local population to their country and their involvement in its democratic life".
According to Borloo, "France, and beyond the entire European Union, can only be pleased to have a partner as reliable as unavoidable on the southern shore of the Mediterranean, but also as vital in the relationship between Europe and Africa”.
"In a region plagued by insecurity and faced with the impasse in which some of its neighbors find themselves, the success of these elections proves that Morocco is a hub of stability with which our cooperation, already very good, should become more intense,” he added.
