Always in tune with the rapid and accelerated changes in the media field, MAP, through this new project, currently a palpable reality, aims to increase its editorial expertise and diversify its editorial capabilities through the integration of new information technologies and communication.
With this project, the Agency provides itself with the means to carry out its strategy to produce content in large volumes, at lower cost and with high added value, and to devote available human resources to more complex tasks that only the human brain is capable of performing.
This platform, which is part of a series of AI projects of the Agency, allows to automatically generate sports news articles (soccer and basketball) and stock exchange articles(Casablanca Stock Exchange) in French language 24/7 using data provided by MAP.
It is also a semantic text analyzer that automatically associates tags with all the news articles and textual content of the site www.maparchives.ma in French 24/7.
This analyzer will make it possible to analyze MAP archives (between 1.5 and 34 million pieces of content), to provide the corresponding tags and to process nearly 300 pieces of content per day.
During the development of the platform, a series of meetings and workshops were held to adapt the AI to MAP's editorial line and to develop original and innovative content for its clients. Similarly, training workshops, both in videoconference and face-to-face, were organized to introduce MAP's teams to this new tool.
An important component of MAP's five-year Strategic Plan, the new digital roadmap was adopted in early October 2019, during a seminar organized by MAP in Marrakech in partnership with David Sallinen, a global expert in media and social network transformation.
The AI projects adopted as part of this digital roadmap are the first in a series of other projects, identified, discussed and listed during this seminar, affecting all MAP's businesses and departments.
Thus, in addition to the automatic writing of stock market and sports reports and tagging, these projects also relate to automated translation, the enhancement of MAP's archives (text, video, audio, photographs and infographics) and the retranscription of audio recordings into text or the transformation of text into audio.
All these projects are the result of a strong will of the Agency to appropriate the tools of artificial intelligence to improve its contents, which makes it a pioneer news agency in this field, on the scale of the whole African continent. An Agency that adapts and anticipates the multiple changes and upheavals that the media world is experiencing.
