This award comes in recognition of the Moroccan ambassador's contribution to the "strengthening of ties of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Peru," says a statement by the Embassy.
The medal was given to the Moroccan diplomat by the mayor of Pueblo Libre, Stephen Yuri Haas Del Carpio, during a ceremony held in the residence of Morocco in Lima, in the presence of municipal authorities, members of the diplomatic corps, deputies friends of Morocco and representatives of various media.
On this occasion, the Moroccan ambassador expressed his deep appreciation for this singular distinction that honors the image of Morocco and describing it as a sign of esteem and consideration for the Kingdom.
The Moroccan diplomat stressed that this distinction is highly important as it coincides with the celebration of the 46th anniversary of the glorious Green March which resulted in the recovery of the Moroccan Sahara.
For his part, the mayor of the municipality of Pueblo Libre welcomed the efforts made by the Moroccan Embassy in Lima for the "strengthening of traditional friendly relations between the two countries, especially between local elected officials."
The municipality of Pueblo Libre, which will celebrate its bicentenary in April 2022, is Peru's first district, gathering a number of significant places such as its Plaza Bolivar, its house of the Liberators and its national museum of archaeology, anthropology and history of Peru.
