Rui Fernandes was awarded for the photo "Nevoeiro mágico" (magic mist), taken in the port of Essaouira in September 2021, said the Embassy in a statement, noting that "the aesthetic sensitivity and evocation of the traditions of fishing, common to both countries" impressed the jury.

Launched on June 10, on the occasion of the Day of Portugal, Camões and Portuguese Communities, this competition aims to promote and strengthen the historical, cultural, economic and other ties between Portugal and Morocco through the photographic image, said the same source.

The second prize was awarded to the photographer João Paulo Dias for his photo "Voando em Essaouira" (flying in Essaouira).

The third prize went to Hicham El Banine, fashion photographer from Meknes and based in Portugal, for "Moulay Idriss Zerhoun", a photo with strong chromaticism that deals with a picturesque subject "creating parallels with typical Portuguese landscapes, especially in the Algarve, south".
