A reliable source on the scene told MAP that the vertical drilling continued throughout the night from Thursday to Friday, which has exceeded a depth of 28 meters, noting that preparations are underway to begin horizontal drilling immediately after arriving at 32 meters.
The source said that the excavation work stopped from time to time, in order to take the necessary measures, as the rescue operation has reached a complex stage, and perform the necessary interventions to avoid a ground collapse.
Bulldozers and heavy machinery, supported by a team of surveyors and dozens of elements of local authorities, civil protection, the Royal Gendarmerie and auxiliary forces, under the direct supervision of provincial authorities, are mobilized since Tuesday evening to rescue Rayan, the 5-year-old child who fell into the 32-meter well uncovered and unfenced, near the home of his family in the village of Ighrane, Tamorot municipality (Chefchaouen province).
A medical helicopter of the Royal Gendarmerie and medical staff specialized in resuscitation of the Ministry of Health are also deployed on the scene, to perform the necessary medical interventions before transferring the child Rayan to the nearest health facility.
