Speaking at a ceremony as part of the celebration of "Rabat, capital of culture in the Islamic world", Secretary General of the Congress, Bilal Al-Natsheh, said that the "Al-Quds Appeal", signed in 2019 by HM King Mohammed VI and His Holiness the Pope to preserve and promote the specific multi-religious character of the Holy City, is another expression of this support.
This historic support continues since the establishment of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency at the initiative of the late HM King Hassan II to strengthen the resistance of the inhabitants of the Holy City and contribute to the achievements of socio-economic projects for the benefit of the population, he stressed.
He also praised the major role played by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency and all its staff on the ground, considering that the Agency has been able to alleviate the suffering of the inhabitants of Al Quds.
According to him, the Moroccan presence in the Holy City and its ancient city is still evident through the Moroccan cultural center "Bayt Al-Maghrib".
For his part, director in charge of the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, said that the organization of this ceremony is a renewed tribute to the people of Al Quds, capital of Palestine, and a celebration of the proclamation of Rabat by ICESCO as the capital of culture in the Islamic world in 2022.
Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Rabat, Jamal Al-Shobaki, stressed that Morocco is omnipresent in the hearts of Palestinians through the firm positions of HM the King and his people towards the Palestinian cause.
Director General of ICESCO, Salim bin Mohammed Al Malik, stressed that the organization should ensure the preservation of the history of Al Quds, adding that the program of cultural capitals in the Islamic world adopted by ICESCO makes the preservation of the Islamic identity of cities a fundamental mission.
