Jordanian newspapers, including "Amon", "Al-Anbat", "Juhayna News" and "Nabad Al-Balad", argued that "the governance of migration in Morocco, which has been welcomed by the entire international community, the UN bodies specialized in this field, as well as the African Union (AU), is framed by "a humanitarian and solidarity vision."
Regretting that the governance of migration in Morocco is "affected by the criminal acts of networks active in the smuggling of migrants and trafficking in human beings", they said that the attempt of illegal migrants to force the metal barrier at the level of the province of Nador has been condemned by Morocco, which continues to wage a relentless battle against trafficking networks.
The media also stressed that "the vision of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the High Guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, leader of the AU on the issue of migration, carries a strong meaning because its issues, which go beyond mobility, incorporate a basic paradigm centered on the human being and the sanctity of his fundamental rights.
In this sense, they continue, this human logic that today structures the governance of migration in Morocco, resulting from the national strategy for migration and asylum that was launched in 2013, reflects the inclusive and supportive approach that is part of the consecration of the Kingdom's African message.
"The noble dimension of migration is despoiled by the criminal behavior of human trafficking networks, which exploit the social vulnerabilities of victims and force them to embark on dangerous and criminal adventures," it was noted.
In this regard, the Jordanian media pointed out that "criminal networks use very dangerous plans, especially in incursions planned in a quasi-military way by militiamen and former soldiers from countries destabilized by wars and conflicts.
They also recalled that the National Migration Strategy is an unprecedented initiative at the regional level, which was adopted by the United Nations, noting that Morocco has taken two strong measures that have strengthened the African dimension of migration, namely the "African Migration Observatory" and the "African Agenda on Migration".
The Jordanian media also reported that Morocco, in an effort to strengthen humanitarian border management, adopted in 2020 a set of standard procedures for a referral and care system for migrants rescued at sea or apprehended at the borders.
The media concluded that the regional context, the post-COVID-19 situation, the situation in Ukraine and the upcoming food crisis exacerbate the migration challenges, which require more than ever concrete action in terms of solidarity and support.
