On the final day of the Games, Morocco made a sensational impact by winning 23 gold, 16 silver and 19 bronze medals, the same source reports.

Morocco set a new record with 42 medals in athletics, 8 in judo, 5 in road cycling, 2 in wrestling and one in ball juggling, the agency emphasizes, adding that the Kingdom's last record was set in Cote d'Ivoire (2017), with a total of 42 medals (13 gold, 14 silver and 15 bronze).

The AIB also highlights the significant role of women in the Moroccan sporting landscape due to the fact that 34 of the 58 medals (including 18 gold) were won by Moroccan female athletes.

Morocco, a member of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), organized the first edition of the Francophonie Games in Casablanca in 1989, where it came 3rd, with 21 medals, recalls the agency.

The 9th edition of the Francophonie Games, which ended on Sunday, brought together 2,500 young people aged 18 to 35 representing 88 countries, including Morocco, to take part in various sports and cultural activities.
