The decision was reached during a meeting of the Federation's board of directors held on Tuesday evening in Laâyoune. Prior to this decision, all necessary organizational, logistical, and security preparations had been made for the international cycling event.
The Tour du Maroc is sanctioned by the International Cycling Union (UCI) and enjoys support from the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Learning and Sports, as well as the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM), as noted in the FRMC's press release.
In the wake of the natural disaster, the members of the Federation's executive committee and all members of the Tour's caravan, consisting of more than 400 individuals from various nationalities, expressed their profound sadness. They extended their condolences to the families of the earthquake victims and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.
The board members also expressed their deep appreciation for HM King Mohammed VI's continuous support and care for the injured and the grieving families, commending the initiatives and High Royal Directions aimed at mitigating the impact of the earthquake.
