The security operations carried out in this case led to the arrest of two people suspected of links with a criminal network involved in the international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances by sea, said a press release by the Directorate General for National Security (DGSN).
Inspection procedures led to the seizure of two cars and a quantity of 4 tonnes and 635 kg of chira, packed in 123 large bales, in addition to 20 kg of cannabis, the same source said.
The suspects were taken into custody and placed at the disposal of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, with a view to elucidating the possible ramifications of this criminal activity and the various criminal acts attributed to the individuals concerned.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the DGSN, in coordination with the DGST, to counter illicit drug and psychotropic trafficking networks, the press release concluded.
