In a statement to MAP following his talks with president of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Khalihenna Ould Errachid, German Blanco reiterated the Colombian Senate's rejection of this decision.
The Colombian government's decision to recognize "a separatist and terrorist group" is "a source of concern for the Colombian Senate and the Foreign Relations Committee", he added, noting that the Senate delegation's visit to Morocco is intended to officially express the position of the upper house of the Colombian Congress.
The Colombian Senate recently adopted a new motion unequivocally supporting Morocco's territorial integrity and sovereignty over its Sahara, and reiterating the categorical rejection by the "legitimate representatives of the Colombian people" of the current government's "unwise decision" to establish relations with the pseudo-sadr.
"As Senators and legitimate representatives of the Colombian people, we deeply reject this unwise decision by the current government, which in no way represents the position of Colombians towards Morocco, and we reiterate our firm position of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco," reads the motion adopted by an overwhelming majority of 65 Senators out of the 105 in the upper house of the Colombian Congress.
