On her arrival at the "House of Sustainability" Green Zone, Her Royal Highness was greeted by Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Preschool Learning and Sports, H.E. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education of the United Arab Emirates, Stefania Giannini, Assistant Director-General for Education at UNESCO, and H.E. Shamma Al Mazrui, Emirati Minister of Community Development and Youth Climate Champion.
Her Royal Highness then held talks with H.E. Shamma Al Mazrui, in the presence of H.E. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, on the Emirati side, and Bemoussa and Nouzha Alaoui, Secretary General of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, on the Moroccan side.
Afterwards, Her Royal Highness took part in the opening of the "Greening Education Partnership" High-Level Special Session, which kicked off with statements by two representatives of the World Scout Movement and UNICEF.
On this occasion, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa shared the podium during the high-level panel on "getting every leaner climate-ready" alongside the Minister of Education of the United Arab Emirates and the Assistant Director-General for Education at UNESCO, in the presence of H.E. Shamma Al Mazrui and other leading personalities.
Her Royal Highness was also invited to speak at the first annual conference of the Greening Education Partnership, launched at the United Nations Summit on Transforming Education in New York in September 2022, in which the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection had played an active role.
In her address on this occasion, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa shared the Foundation's practical, ongoing and productive action on Education for Sustainable Development by way of programs it has run for 20 years, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Learning and Sports.
Her Royal Highness also highlighted the Foundation's actions to mobilize and unite Africa’s young people through its African Youth Climate Hub and African Green Universities and Youth Education Network initiatives. A host of network members from these initiatives joined the Foundation and its partners at COP 28 to convey the voice of the South.
Following the opening session of this high-level event, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa visited the Greening Education Hub, where Her Royal Highness followed an interactive screen presentation of the impact of the Greening Education Partnership on the Emirati education system, structured around four transformative education action pillars.
Before her departure, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa posed for a souvenir photo with the Young Reporters for the Environment, representing the Kingdom's 12 regions.
