In a statement to MAP, Aberkani, who is also a professor at the Multidisciplinary Faculty of Nador under the Mohammed 1st University of Oujda, stressed the importance of digitalization, genetic transformation and good agricultural practices.
He noted that Morocco has several institutions active in agricultural research and specialized institutes in hydrology and hydraulics, capable of accelerating the global system of scientific research in these fields.
He stressed that the time has come to impose the use of drought-resistant seeds and the adoption of laws banning water-hungry seeds, pointing out that the digital technology to which Morocco is committed is capable of speeding up the implementation of projects programmed by the State, such as the desalination of sea water and the construction of dams.
In this respect, the researcher emphasized the importance of these projects for achieving water security and food sovereignty.
