The students, speaking on Monday in Cairo, lauded the contributions of the Bayt Mal Al Quds Acharif Agency, the operational arm of the Al-Quds Committee, notably scholarships which have allowed several students to continue their studies at the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute (IAV Hassan II) in Rabat. This initiative is part of a broader partnership between the IAV, the agency, and Al-Azhar University aimed at bolstering specialized education programs at the King Hassan II Faculty in Gaza.
"For us, receiving a scholarship represents a beacon of hope after an entire year of suspended studies," said Mohieddine Shehadeh, a student beneficiary. He expressed deep appreciation to HM King Mohammed VI for his commitment to Palestinian students.
Mohammed Al-Halimi, another student, echoed this sentiment, thanking the Bayt Mal Al Quds Acharif Agency for offering the opportunity to pursue their education in Morocco. Al-Halimi emphasized the challenges students face in Gaza, noting that many institutions have been severely impacted by the conflict, with bombings disrupting academic life. "We are truly grateful for the support from Morocco in these difficult times," he said.
Khalil Abu Foul, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Azhar University in Gaza, commended Morocco’s ongoing assistance under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, highlighting the various initiatives spearheaded by the Bayt Mal Al Quds Acharif Agency, including the payment of first-semester fees for students at the King Hassan II Faculty, which was established with financial aid from HM the King.
Abu Foul also pointed to the graduation of 40 students from the faculty, technical assistance for the university's servers, and support for its e-learning platform over the next three years. In addition, he mentioned scholarships granted to six veterinary medicine students and five students in animal production, enabling them to undergo training at IAV Hassan II in Rabat.
He extended his gratitude to Morocco's ambassador in Cairo and the embassy staff for their efforts in facilitating the students' travel and ensuring a warm reception in Morocco.
