Morocco's re-election to this UN treaty body reflects the international community's confidence in the Kingdom's efforts, under the far-sighted vision of HM King Mohammed VI, to protect and promote human rights in their indivisibility and universality.
This re-election also attests to Morocco’s efforts to face global challenges impeding people's full enjoyment of their economic, social and cultural rights.

The SPT is a treaty body of the UN human rights system. Its prevention mandate focuses on a proactive approach to the prevention of torture and ill-treatment. The Subcommittee visits places of deprivation of liberty and examines the treatment of detainees held there. It also provides advice to national preventive mechanisms.
