Initialled by President of the Dakhla Communal Council Erragheb Hormatallah and Mayor of Bissau José Anastácio Medina Lobato, the signing ceremony was attended by Wali of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, Governor of the Oued-Eddahab province Ali Khalil, and Consul General of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau to Dakhla Armandinho Erickson Fernandes Teixeira, as well as elected officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Hormatallah said that the twinning agreement embodies a shared desire to strengthen historic ties between the two countries. Its aim, he noted, is to enshrine mutual understanding and exchange of visits and experiences, in order to meet both towns' expectations.
He added that this agreement is an important step in strengthening bilateral relations between the cities of Dakhla and Bissau, as part of a strategic partnership uniting the two brotherly countries.
“The twinning marks the beginning of an exceptional new partnership, which reflects aspirations of both countries to strengthen ties of friendship and fraternity, and to turn this agreement into a model of cooperation between the two cities,” Hormatallah noted.
For his part, Medina Lobato stressed that this twinning agreement's inking is a major opportunity to further boost cooperation between the two cities in various sectors.
This agreement, he continued, aspires to promote cooperation in many areas of common interest, in favor of a promising future for the populations of Dakhla and Bissau.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two parties have agreed to bolster relations of cooperation and partnership in various sectors, including economy, culture and exchange of expertise.
Following the signing of the twinning agreement, members of the Guinea-Bissau delegation were briefed by Director of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Investment Center (RIC) Mounir Houari, on various completed mega-projects and others in progress, making Dakhla a regional hub between Europe and Africa.
