The dinner was chaired by Foreign Minister, Salaheddine Mezouar, in the presence of Taib Fassi Fihri and Yassir Znagui Advisers to HM the King, government ministers, ambassadors at-large of His Majesty the King, Assia Alaoui Bensaleh and Serge Berdugo, members of the high-level delegation, the ambassador of Morocco in Washington, Rashad Bouhlal.
On the American side, the dinner was attended by senior U.S. officials, including Daniel Yohannes, CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Chairwoman of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde, congressmen, former U.S. ambassadors to Morocco, and presidents of American think tanks.
In a speech on this occasion, Mezouar paid tribute to the memory of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, "a leader who had a high appreciation of Morocco's contribution to peace and stability in the world."
John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the minister said, was " firmly committed to strengthening our historical alliance and maintaining a special personal relationship with the late King Hassan II."
The minister said on this occasion that "to honor the memory of the late US President, His Majesty King Mohammed VI announced a contribution on behalf of President Kennedy for the Peace Corps in Morocco."
Over the past fifty years, more than 4,530 volunteers from the Peace Corps worked in Morocco according to the vision of President Kennedy to advance the cause of peace in the world, said Mezouar, adding that this gift will support the mission of volunteers in Morocco for youth empowerment, rural development, health and the environment.
In this speech, the Minister stressed that the Royal visit is of an "exceptional historical importance" that will further strengthen friendship between the two countries.
