"As part of the regular monitoring of supply, prices and quality control operations, the committee checked this Thursday, April 09, the supply situation which is characterized by the availability and stability, and that the supply situation for markets is normal concerning all basic necessities, whether they are food, hygiene or energy products," said, in a statement, the Department of General Affairs and Governance under the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform.

"Regarding seasonal vegetables, the Ministry of Agriculture oversees the monitoring of the planting of surfaces with potatoes, onions, tomatoes, carrots and zucchini", said the same source, adding that the commission noted that the prices of the majority of products are stable.

As for the prices of fruits and vegetables, they continued their downward trend this week compared to the previous week, underlined the press release, explaining that the prices decreased by 9% for tomato and green onion, by 6% for the potato, 4% for the carrot, 5% for the dry onion and 2% for eggs. The prices of red and white meats, as well as those of legumes, were also stable.

The interministerial commission will continue to hold regular meetings to follow the market situation, the level of supply and prices as well as the results of interventions by the control commissions to deal with any type of fraud, monopolization, speculation or price manipulation.
