The Royal Initiative “is fully in line with a results-oriented approach and shows the continuity of the Sovereign's commitment to defending the causes and interests of Africa, and this is demonstrated through the personal involvement of the Sovereign in implementing this policy,” PAP Chief of Cabinet, Jean Patrice Koe, said in an interview with MAP.
The Pan African legislative institution "welcomes the fact that Africa is at the center of the kingdom's foreign policy under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI," he pointed out.
The Royal Initiative is also part of a multilateral logic that the PAP has always defended and which promotes intra-African cooperation, he said.
Morocco has managed to anticipate the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic by implementing a health precautionary policy based on the early confinement of the population and the rapid adaptation of the Moroccan industrial units to the situation triggered by this global health crisis, he noted.
Koe, who praised the efforts undertaken by the Moroccan authorities in this regard, welcomed the fact that the Moroccan industry has adapted to the Coronavirus pandemic through the launch of the production of artificial breathing devices.
African countries will benefit from sharing this technology which will undoubtedly allow the production of this equipment on the continent, he said, noting that the PAP remains convinced that the current health crisis can be a catalyst for an accentuated industrialization of Africa which faces an important technological challenge.
Africa must speak with one voice, he added, emphasizing the need for Africa to draw its strength from its capacity to unite, cooperate and support each other in order to face this major challenge.
HM the King has had telephone conversations with the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and the President of the Republic of Senegal.
During the discussions, the Sovereign proposed the launch of an initiative of African Heads of State aimed at establishing an operational framework to accompany African countries in the various phases of the management of the pandemic.
