The number of people declared cured rose, until Monday at 4:00 p.m., to 695 with 102 new recoveries, while the number of fatalities increased to 162 with a single new death, said director of epidemiology and disease control at the Ministry of Health Mohamed El Youbi, in a statement broadcast by MAP on its television channel M24 and on RIM RADIO.
Of the 55 new confirmed cases, 43 were detected thanks to the medical monitoring of contacts, a rate of 79%, noted El Youbi, adding that the follow-up of contact persons remains the effective means to diagnose the greatest number of cases.
He also noted that 7,679 contacts are still under daily medical surveillance, stressing a gradual drop in the mortality rate due to this epidemic which reached 3.9%.
Regarding the geographic distribution, the official said that no change has been reported, since the Casablanca-Settat region still has the largest number of confirmed cases, followed by Marrakech-Safi, Fez-Meknes, Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima and Drâa-Tafilalet.
El Youbi welcomed, on this occasion, the noticeable drop in cases recorded in previously discovered epidemic outbreaks.
