The number of people declared cured rose, until Friday at 4:00 p.m., to 1,083 with 99 new recoveries, said director of epidemiology and disease control at the Ministry of Health Mohamed El Youbi, in a statement broadcast by MAP on its television channel M24 and on RIM RADIO.
The number of fatalities increased to 171 after the announcement of a new death in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health, which invites citizens to respect the rules of hygiene and health security, as well as preventive measures taken by the Moroccan authorities by showing responsibility and patriotism.
Among the 146 new cases of contamination, 108 were detected thanks to the screening of contact persons, representing a rate of 74%, he noted, adding that these cases are diagnosed at an early stage, most of the time, before having symptoms.
Regarding the geographic distribution of confirmed cases, the Casablanca-Settat region still ranks first, with a rate of more than 25%, followed by Marrakech-Safi (22%), then Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, Fez-Meknès and Draa-Tafilelt, the official said.
He also pointed out that the mortality rate, which is now at 3.7%, has been dropping steadily against an increase in the recovery rate, which is at 23.7%.
Similarly, the rate of evolution of this disease varies between 1.04 and 1.07 at the national level, he noted, referring to a "positive indicator".
