"It is necessary for the European Union to rethink and revamp its policy of partnership and cooperation in this area if we want things to develop differently," said Rahhou in an interview published Monday in "Parliament Magazine".
Noting that Europe needs to have, outside its borders, a stable, developing and cooperative neighborhood on all subjects of common interest, Rahhou affirmed that Morocco is totally on the same page, pointing out that in the close geographic neighborhood of Europe, which is highly unstable, the Kingdom constitutes one of the rare exceptions to this situation.
In this context, the ambassador recalled the joint Morocco-EU declaration dated June 2019, which laid new foundations for partnership on a multidimensional approach.
This new partnership framework integrates values, education, innovation, economy, social justice, politics, security and movement, and of course the essential subject of the environment and climate change, he said.
The Moroccan diplomat said that the EU has great geostrategic ambitions, touching on climate change, peace, security and stability in the world, as well as strengthening the rule of law. "A more dynamic and proactive policy is also planned in relations with Africa".
He said that Morocco shares these ambitions and stressed that its objectives in this area are largely aligned with those of the EU.
