Speaking at a meeting of the Board of the Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (AIEA) held by video conference, the diplomat noted that this is a pragmatic and action-oriented initiative that is aimed at enabling the sharing of experiences and best practices to address the health, economic and social impact of the pandemic in Africa.

Morocco is aware about the new challenges to be met in tackling the negative effects of the pandemic on African countries and remains convinced that more than ever in recent history, global cooperation is necessary for a global response which supports all the efforts aiming at strengthening the worldwide collaboration in data and experience sharing, he pointed out.

Farhane also expressed the solidarity of the Kingdom of Morocco, in these times of global turmoil, with countries worldwide in the global fight against Covid-19, and voiced heartfelt thanks to Director General, Rafael Mariano Grossi, for his appreciated initiative to provide assistance to members states in their efforts to tackle the effects of this unprecedented pandemic.

Morocco also thanks the donor members States which have provided extra-budgetary funding to respond to IAEA appeal on COVID 19 within the context of the international solidarity and cooperation to respond and mitigate the coronavirus scourge, he said.
