According to a press release from the ministry, it was decided to continue implementing educational continuity through the remote learning process, until the end of the current school year, for the benefit of pupils, students and trainees. This educational continuity complements the courses and training programs and provides the educational support necessary to prepare for the exams, via various digital platforms, television channels and brochures that will be distributed to elementary school students in remote rural areas.
The ministry also recalled that all pupils, students and interns will not return to class in public and private educational establishments and foreign missions until next September.
Regarding the remaining operations of the current school year, the ministry stressed that the exams will be organized according to a well-defined schedule, noting that at the level of the national education department, only the baccalaureate exams will be organized in person and will only be related to courses given in person before the suspension of studies and this in order to give concrete substance to the principle of equal opportunities, and to publish a reference framework which sets the subjects on which the candidates will be examined.
The ministry specified that the ordinary session of the unified national examination of the Baccalaureate 2020 will take place in two phases, on July 03 and 04 for literature and traditional education and from July 06 to 08 for technical sciences and the Professional baccalaureate.
The results of this session will be announced on July 15, said the same source, noting that the catch up session will take place from July 22 to 24 for all branches, while the final results will be announced no later than July 29, 2020.
As for the unified regional exam for the first year of the baccalaureate, it is scheduled for September 4 and 5, 2020 and the examination subjects will be based on the courses given in person till the date of the suspension of classes.
For other school levels, only the marks of controls organized until March 14th will be taken into account, as well as the marks of local exams for the 6th year of the elementary school and the 3rd year of the middle school.
The exams for the first year of the baccalaureate for free candidates will take place on July 1 and 2 and the catch up session is scheduled for July 20 and 21. The regional standardized middle school examination and the provincial standardized examination for the elementary school certificate will take place on September 25 and 26.
The national standardized examination of the Advanced Technician Certificate (BTS) for the 2020 session, is scheduled on July 13 to 16.
The ministry also pointed out that the national competition for access to management schools (CNAEM) will take place on July 11, 13 and 14, and the joint national competition to join engineering schools is scheduled for July 16-18, the statement said, adding that it will concern only written competitions and that the exams of the training center for education inspectors, the guidance and planning center for education, the regional centers (academy executive teachers, educational executives and qualified teachers) are scheduled starting July 20. Assignments will be made in August.
With regard to higher education, the examinations will take place in September in establishments with open access and as of mid-July for establishments with limited access, with the adoption of the principle of flexibility in the organization of tests.
The ministry said it had decided to opt for multiple assessment formulas, due to the limited number of students in these establishments, adding that this decision comes within the framework of the educational independence of universities, on the proposal of the conference of university presidents and in consultation with the unions.
For exams in open access establishments, their organization will take place in September, taking into account the high number of students and the difficulty of managing their mobility and accommodation in the current conditions of health emergency.
Students can discuss their end of study projects as well as their doctoral theses remotely, while ensuring compliance with health prevention and safety measures, to carry out their necessary scientific research.
The same source added that taking into account the new dates of the national examination for the second year of the baccalaureate, the organization of all the examinations for access to higher education establishments has been postponed until the results of the baccalaureate exam.
With regard to vocational training, the end-of-study exams will be organized next September for the technicians, specialized technicians and qualifying training branches. As usual, the final exams for the specialization and qualification branches will be held in November 2020, after the internships have taken place.
The transition from the 1st to the 2nd year for all specializations will be determined exclusively on the basis of the marks from the tests which took place in person and the results will be announced by the end of July.
