The application, launched on June 1, helps notify and treat people who had contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases more quickly and thus curb the spread of the virus, the ministry added in a press release.
It is a useful device on the eve of the gradual lifting of lockdown measures, the source pointed out.
The application, which can be downloaded on www.wiqaytna.ma, Google Play and App store, contributes to protecting public health while guarding online and data privacy, it said.
Wiqaytna, which is based on Bluetooth technology and whose use is voluntary, notifies its users of any prolonged physical proximity with a confirmed Coronavirus case.
This application is part of efforts made to stop the spread of the novel Coronavirus, the ministry said, adding that is was launched as part of a national awareness-raising campaign, launched under the theme "Stay alert, protect each other", and whose objective is to encourage citizens to continue to implement precautionary measures aimed at fighting against the virus.
