Approximately 87% of these cases are in the regions of Casablanca-Settat, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima and Marrakech-Safi, while there are no active cases in the regions of Draa-Tafilalet and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, said coordinator of the National Center for Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Mrabet, in a statement broadcast by MAP on its M24 TV channel and Rim radio.
Eighty new Covid-19 cases were reported in Morocco over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the country to 8,151, he pointed out.
According to him, 46 of the new confirmed cases were recorded in Casablanca-Settat region, 14 in Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, 12 in Marrakech-Safi, five in Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, two in Fez-Meknes and one case in the Eastern region.
The total number of excluded suspected cases in the past 24 hours has reached 14,028, bringing the total of excluded cases since the start of the outbreak to 281,306.
No new coronavirus-related death was registered over the given period and the number of fatalities remains at 206, the official noted, adding that the mortality rate stands at 2.6%.
A total of 47 Covid-19 patients have recovered in Morocco over the past 24 hours until Saturday at 6 p.m., bringing to 7,315 the number of cured people since the start of the outbreak, said Dr Mrabet, adding that the recovery rate rose to 89.7%.
The official said that 74 cases out of the new confirmed cases (92%) were detected through contact tracing, adding that the number of people who had contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases has reached 48,534 since the start of the outbreak, including 7,247 who are still under medical monitoring.
According to him, 18 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition, including 13 in Casablanca, 3 in Marrakech, 1 in Tangier and 1 in Fez, while five patients are put on artificial respiration (four in Casablanca and one in Tangier).
