Infection cases in children have been recorded in the regions of Marrakech-Safi with 66 cases, Casablanca-Settat (23), Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (11), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (6), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (4), Fez-Meknès (3) and Souss-Massa (only one case), said Dr Mouad Mrabet, coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the ministry, in a statement aired by MAP on its TV channel M24 and on RIM RADIO.
He also said that 82 new cases of infection and 78 recoveries were recorded during the last 24 hours, brings to 8,692 the number of contaminations since the beginning of the epidemic, that is a rate of 24/100,000 inhabitants, and to 7,696 the total number of cured cases, representing a recovery rate of 88.5%.
As for the number of deaths, it has remained at 212, with no case reported in the last 24 hours, representing a fatality rate of 2.4%.
The new cases were detected in the regions of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (59 cases), Marrakech-Safi (11 cases), Casablanca-Settat (10), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra where one case was recorded in Kenitra and the eastern region (one case).
In this regard, 80 new contaminations out of the 82 confirmed cases were detected within the framework of the contact person tracking system, he said, noting that the number of contact persons reached 49,786, of which 5,849 are still under medical supervision.
Regarding active cases, the official noted that 784 patients are currently under treatment in the various hospitals of the Kingdom, that is 2.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and that 97% of these cases are located in the regions of Marrakech-Safi, Casablanca-Settat, Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Fez-Meknès.
The regions of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab and Draâ Tafilalet no longer have any active cases.
The average age of active cases is around 33: 58% of men and 42% of women, he said, adding that twelve cases are in intensive care, including eight in Casablanca (2 on artificial respiration) and four in Tangier where two cases are on artificial respiration.
