Speaking at the House of Representatives (lower house), Laftit praised commitment displayed by citizens and expressed his pride in the action taken by local authorities, political parties, trade unions and civil society during this period.
He also shed the light on his department's interventions in the context of the state of health emergency, stressing that the local authorities have made efforts to print and distribute exceptional movement authorizations in record time.
In this regard, 8.8 million exceptional authorizations, 247,000 authorizations for economic reasons and 194,000 authorizations for humanitarian considerations have been distributed, he said.
In order to ensure the success of health lockdown, the relevant departments have taken all the precautions and measures to ensure the availability of the needs of daily life, which has allowed the smooth functioning of the distribution circuits of basic foodstuffs, fuel and other basic products, he pointed out.
Moreover, local authorities have coordinated the distribution of food aid worth 1.24 billion dirhams benefiting some 3.9 million inhabitants until 12 June, in addition to providing housing for 10,900 homeless people, he said.
According to him, 570 hotel units and accommodation centers, with a total capacity of approximately 32,000 beds, have been mobilized by the local authorities to house health professionals, some patients and some suspected cases.
He also underlined the action made by the provincial commissions in charge of the control of the commercial and industrial units, and chaired by the local administrative authorities, adding that until June 12, 4.652 units at the national level were the object of control of respect of the precautionary health measures, out of which 261 have been ordered to comply with these provisions.
Local authorities also supported the testing operation among employees of companies, industrial units, banking establishments and supermarkets, staff and prisoners of penal institutions establishments and taxi drivers, he said.
He said that until June 12, more than 200,000 people (857 positive cases) have been tested at some 4,827 commercial, industrial and banking units, as well as 51,500 taxi drivers (18 positive cases) on the whole of the national territory.
