The new figures bring to 10,172 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the first case reported on March 2 and to 8,366 the number of people fully recovered, representing a recovery rate of 82.2%, said Hind Ezzine, head of the department of epidemic diseases at the Directorate of epidemiology under the ministry of Health, in a statement broadcast by MAP on its TV channel M24 and on RIM RADIO.
The number of deaths remains stable at 214, i.e. a case-fatality rate of 2.1%, she said, adding that the number of cases excluded after negative laboratory results amounts to 546,523.
With regard to active cases, she noted that 1,592 patients are currently under treatment or under medical follow-up.
The new contaminations are concentrated in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (only one case in Casablanca), Marrakech-Safi with 21 cases, including 15 in Marrakech and 06 in Safi, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (52 cases, including 10 in Tangier, 27 in Tetouan, 09 in Ouezzane, 05 in Fahs-Anjra and only one case in M'diq), Fez-Meknes (12 cases in Fez) and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (104 cases, including 102 in Kénitra and 02 in Sidi Slimane).
The region of Beni Mellal-Khenifra recorded 04 new cases in Fqih Ben Sala and that of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra only one case, while the other regions have not reported any new contamination in the last 24 hours.
Referring to the contact tracking system, she said that the number of contact persons has now reached 55,104 and that 5,596 are still under medical follow-up.
The ministry reaffirms the need to respect all precautionary measures such as social distancing, the wearing of protective masks, constant hand washing, as well as the use of the "wiqaytna" application, while ensuring that the Bluetooth option is continuously activated, in order to enable it to strengthen the contact tracking system.
