This new figure brings to 13,822 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the declaration of the first case on March 2, and to 9,329 the number of people who fully recovered, that is a recovery rate of about 67.5%, said the Head of the Epidemic Diseases Division at the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health Hind Ezzine.
The death toll rose to 232 following the announcement of two new deaths, a fatality rate of 1.7%, she added.
With regard to the geographic distribution of new cases, 266 new cases were identified in the Marrakech-Safi region (253 in Safi, 9 in Marrakech and 4 in Kelaat Sraghna), 93 cases in the Fez-Meknès region (92 case in Fez and 1 in Moulay Yaacoub), 59 cases in the Casablanca-Settat region (45 cases in Casablanca, 10 in Mediouna and 4 in Mohammedia), and 55 cases in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region (36 cases in Tangier, 14 in Tétouan, 4 in Larache and 1 in Ouazane), said the official.
In addition, 34 cases were recorded in the region of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (34 cases in Laâyoune), 9 cases in the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (7 cases in Kénitra and 2 in Sidi Kacem), 7 cases in the Beni-Mellal-Khénifra region (6 cases in Fkih Ben Saleh and 1 in Beni Mellal), 7 cases in the eastern region (6 cases in Oujda and 1 in Jerrada), 3 cases in the Guelmim-Oued-Noun region (2 cases in Tan-Tan and 1 in Sidi Ifni), 1 case in the region of Dakhla-Oued Dahab in Dakhla, while the other regions (Draâ-Tafilalet and Souss-Massa) recorded no new cases, she said.
Referring to the contact person tracking system, the official noted that it had enabled the detection of 517 new cases, or 97%, adding that their number has currently reached 69,961, of which 13,630 are still under medical supervision, whereas the number of cases excluded after negative test results is 734,627.
Regarding active cases, Ezzine noted that 4,261 patients are currently under treatment, including 1,104 in the region of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, 957 in the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, 632 in the region of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, 586 in the Casablanca-Settat region, 521 in the Marrakech-Safi region, 397 in the Fez-Meknès region, 30 in the Guelmim-Oued-Noun region, 22 in the Béni-Mellal-Khenifra region, 17 in the eastern region, 11 in the Dakhla-Oued Dahab region, 2 in the Souss-Massa region, while the Draâ-Tafilalet region has no active cases.
The number of active cases in intensive care reached 18, including 5 in the Casablanca-Settat region, 2 in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, 3 in the Marrakech-Safi region, and 8 in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
