"We support the Libyan House of Representatives and all initiatives aimed at restoring security and stability in sister Libya, with which religion, history, language and destiny unite us," El Malki said at a press conference following talks with his Libyan counterpart, Aguila Saleh.
He also noted that "we are following all developments on the Libyan scene and aspire, within the framework of respect for the national sovereignty of the Libyan State, to bring the visions and views of all parties as close together as possible".
"The latest initiatives in favor of a solution to the crisis are not contrary to the Skhirat agreement, either in substance or in form," El Malki said, noting that the initiative of the Libyan House of Representatives "will open up new prospects for a solution".
In this sense, he considered that dialogue and the bringing together of points of view are the keystone "for Libya to regain its stability and prosperity, which are an integral part of regional stability".
The speaker of the lower house further affirmed that the visit of his Libyan peer is part of the regular consultations between the two legislative institutions, noting that Morocco is closely following all developments on the Libyan scene, especially since the signing of the Skhirat agreement in 2015.
The talks were marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the two legislative institutions of Morocco and Libya.
