This brings to 24,322 the number of infections since the first case was reported in the kingdom on 2 March, and to 17,658 the number of fully recovered people, i.e. a recovery rate of 72%, said head of division of communicable diseases at the ministry of Health, Abdelkrim Meziane Belfkih.
The number of fatalities rises to 353 with seven new deaths in the last 24 hours, he said, noting that the cumulative incidence rate is about 67/100,000 people.
The number of cases excluded after negative laboratory results amounts to 20,107, for a total of 1,228,043 cases, Belfkih said, adding that 91% of the new cases were detected through the contact tracing system.
As for the geographical distribution of new cases, the official said that 340 cases have been reported in the Casablanca-Settat region (144 in Casablanca, 35 in Nouacer, 33 in Berrechid, 24 in Mohammadia, 3 in El Jadida, 5 in Mediouna and 96 in Settat), 259 in the Tangier-Tetouan- Al Hoceima region (215 in Tangier, 15 in Tetouan, 6 in Larache, 16 in Al Hoceima, 6 in Fahs-Anjra, 1 in Ouazzane) and 297 in Fez-Meknes (269 in Fez, 2 in Meknes, 7 in Moulay Yaacoub, one case in Taounate, 7 in El Hajeb, 2 in Sefrou, 3 in Taza, 4 in Boulmane and 2 in Ifrane).
The other regions that have recorded new cases are Marrakech-Safi with 74 cases (62 in Marrakech, 9 in Rhamna, 2 in Safi and one case in El Haouz), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (42 cases, including 9 in Rabat, 5 in Sidi Kacem, one in Sidi Slimane, 2 in Khémisset, 9 in Salé and 16 cases in Témara), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (30 cases, including 19 in Béni Mellal, 7 in Khénifra and 4 in Khouribga), Souss-Massa (6 cases, including 3 in Agadir and 3 in Inezgane), Drâa-Tafilalet (14 cases, including 7 in Errachidia and 7 in Midelt), the Eastren region with one case in Nador. The regions of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Guelmim-Oued Noun and Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra have not reported any new cases.
With regard to active cases, Belfkih indicated that 6,311 people are currently under treatment in hospitals, 76 of whom are in critical condition. These people are distributed among the regions of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (1,798), Casablanca-Settat (1,774), Fez-Meknes (1,460), Marrakech-Safi (601), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (329), the Eastern region (95), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (51), Beni Mellal-Kenifra (76), Draa- Tafilalet (82), Souss-Massa (32 cases), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (10 cases) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (3 cases).
For those in critical condition, he reported 76 cases admitted to the resuscitation and intensive care units, 11 of which are intubated. These cases are distributed among the regions of Casablanca-Settat (20, of which 7 persons are intubated), Marrakech-Safi (24, of which 2 are intubated), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (16), Fez-Meknes (12, of which 1 is intubated), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (2, of which 1 is intubated) and Souss-Massa (2).
