This new figure brings to 55,864 the number of contaminations in the Kingdom since the first case reported on March 2 and to 40,586 that of people who fully recovered, said the coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health Mouad Mrabet.
The death toll rose to 984 with 29 new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, that is a case fatality rate of 1.8%, he added.
The cumulative incidence rate is 153.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, he said, indicating that the number of active cases stands at 14,294 (39.4/100,000 inhabitants).
The number of cases excluded after negative test results stands at 20,745, for a total of 1,768,387, he added.
Regarding the geographical distribution of new cases, Mrabet noted that 549 cases were detected in the Casablanca-Settat region (424 in Casablanca, 36 in Nouaceur, 30 in Mohammedia, 29 in El Jadida, 15 in Médiouna, 9 in Berrechid, 3 in Benslimane and 3 in Settat), 201 in the Marrakech-Safi region (153 in Marrakech, 19 in Safi, 14 in El Kalâa des Seraghna, 11 in Essaouira and 2 cases in Chichaoua and Rehamna), 126 in Fez-Meknès (69 in Fez, 27 in Meknes, 16 in Boulemane, 11 in El Hajeb, and 3 in Ifrane) and 115 in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (32 in Rabat, 28 in Salé, 28 in Kénitra, 19 in Skhirate-Témara, 4 in Sidi Kacem, 3 in Sidi Slimane and 1 in Khemisset).
In addition, 108 were detected in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region (40 in Khouribga, 23 in Khénifra, 18 in Azilal, 18 in Béni-Mellal and 9 in Fkih Ben Saleh), 99 in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (55 in Tangier, 27 in Tétouan, 6 in Larache, 5 in M'diq-Fnideq, 3 in Al Hoceima, 2 in Ouazzane and 1 case in Chefchaoun), 51 in the eastern region (18 in Figuig, 18 in Guercif, 8 in Nador, 4 in Oujda-Angad and 3 in Berkane), 39 in Draâ-Tafilalet (18 in Ouarzazate, 8 in Errachidia, 8 in Midelt and 5 in Tinghir), 19 in Souss-Massa, 14 in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, 13 Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra and 2 in Guelmim-Oued Noun.
Regarding people in a severe or critical state of health, Mrabet reported 193 cases admitted to intensive care units, of which 33 people are intubated.
