In a statement, the CEN-SAD welcomes the salutary impulses and encouragement to constructive dialogue of HM King Mohammed VI which notably creates the conditions for the restoration and consolidation of peace and national harmony through fraternal dialogue.
It also praises the "personal and institutional involvement" of Nasser Bourita, minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, in the search for a negotiated solution to the Libyan crisis, which strongly impacts other CEN-SAD member States, according to the same source.
It commends the Libyan parties engaged in this process for their strong will and determination to bring their country out of the crisis and urges them to implement the conclusions of the Berlin Conference endorsed by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2015 (2019), the relevant resolutions of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union and the exhortations of the CEN-SAD Extraordinary Summit held in N'Djamena on 13 April 2019.
The CEN-SAD calls on them to make these talks a historic event and, to this end, urges the Libyan political and community leaders to support the ongoing discussions in Bouznika and to encourage the negotiators to make patriotic compromises with a view to consolidating the ceasefire, preserving unity and national harmony in order to create the conditions for free and inclusive elections.
The CEN-SAD also welcomes the commitment and initiatives of HM King Mohammed VI for the promotion of peace in the Sahelo-Saharan space and expresses its gratitude to the Kingdom of Morocco for its efforts so salutary and decisive to restore political stability and harmony in Libya, added the statement.
Furthermore, the CEN-SAD expresses its full support for the Bouznika process and calls on the entire international community to strongly support this process.
It calls for a successful conclusion of these talks and expresses its readiness to accompany and support the Libyan parties in the implementation of the decisions that will result from them, concluded the statement.
