"Morocco and Italy have relations as old as their very existence as States (...) they are excellent relations: dense political dialogue, sustained security cooperation, substantial economic exchanges and singular human proximity," Bourita underlined in an interview with Italian news agency Nova.
According to the minister, "interesting areas emerge for Italian investment opportunities in Morocco, particularly in the sectors of renewable energy, finance, textiles, health, food and construction".
The minister cited as an example "opportunities for industrial cooperation, particularly in the sectors of automotive technologies and ecosystems, digitalization, rail and naval cooperation", noting that "Morocco is full of opportunities". Morocco is no longer a destination, it has become a regional and continental hub, he said.
"An investment in Morocco is an investment in the Mediterranean, the Maghreb, West Africa and Africa in general," he stressed.
In this interview, Bourita discussed other topics related to the migration issue, Morocco's approach in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Kingdom's policy in terms of prevention and fight against terrorism and the Moroccan model in the field of renewable energy.
On the issue of migration, the minister highlighted the national strategy for immigration and asylum, implemented in accordance with the High Royal Instructions.
This strategy, he said, aims to integrate migrants by giving them access to all basic services, adding that it revolves around strong cooperation at the bilateral, continental and international levels.
At the continental level, HM King Mohammed VI is, for the African Union, the leader of the migration issue in the continent, he said.
At the international level, Morocco has called for a positive approach to migration, he said, highlighting the Kingdom's sustained action in various forums and meetings related to migration management.
Regarding Morocco's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he said it is guided by a Royal Vision, based on the pillars of anticipation, proactivity, and the primacy of citizens' health.
He highlighted rated in this sense the various aspects of the approach adopted by the Kingdom to fight the pandemic, citing among others, the creation at the initiative of the Sovereign of a special fund dedicated to the management of the pandemic, in addition to the mobilization of national industry to increase the production capacity of personal protective equipment, as well as the initiation of an ambitious economic revival plan to enable production sectors to recover, increase their capacity to create jobs and preserve sources of income.
In the area of prevention and fight against terrorism, he stressed that the Kingdom's policy in this regard is driven by the vision of HM King Mohammed VI. It is part of a coherent, holistic and integrated national strategy that takes into account all factors leading to radicalization and terrorism, he said.
This national strategy, he explained, is based on several pillars: a preventive and anticipatory security approach, the implementation of several national development projects initiated by the Sovereign to address socio-economic factors that can lead to radicalization and terrorism, and the restructuring of the religious field.
Regarding the Moroccan model for renewable energy, Bourita noted that the Kingdom has made renewable energy a priority in the development of its energy policy.
The Kingdom has adopted since 2009, on High Royal Orientations, an energy strategy which aims at developing renewable energies, strengthening energy efficiency and regional integration, he said.
