During talks held with Minister of Justice Mohamed Ben Abdelkader, Ingledow commended Morocco's efforts made in fighting human trafficking, terrorism financing and money laundering, which is the subject of a new draft bill submitted to the Parliament.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice, this meeting, held as part of cooperation between Morocco and the Council of Europe, was an opportunity to highlight the achievements and cooperation prospects between the two parties under the draft cooperation program proposed by the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) for the year 2021, particularly the aspect relating to the digitization of justice.
Cooperation prospects also include human trafficking, under the Warsaw Convention, signed by Morocco, fighting violence against children, building the capacities of justice professionals in this area through the "Help" training program and supporting the legislative initiative in that regard.
They also touch on money laundering and terrorism financing, through studying the possibility for Morocco to ratify the European Convention number 198 on money laundering.
In order to ensure the implementation of these various aspects of cooperation, minister Ben Abdelkader suggested the establishment of an agenda identifying priority activities while ensuring coordination between the various stakeholders in the justice sector, the statement concluded.
