This decision was announced at a meeting, on Tuesday, of the Group of African Ambassadors in Geneva, during which the Ambassador of the Central African Republic, acting in his capacity as coordinator of the African Group on health issues, presented the results of the meeting of ambassadors of the States Parties of the Memorandum of the Agreement of Membership to UNITAID, held on February 5.
The appointment of Morocco as the representative of the African constituency at UNITAID is a new recognition of the continental leadership of the Kingdom, of its sustained action and of its multiple initiatives of humanitarian solidarity for the benefit of African countries, and of its constant commitment in favor of cooperation to address the challenges in the health sector and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals at the continental level.
The aid granted upon Very High Instructions from HM King Mohammed VI, to several African countries to support them in their efforts to fight the coronavirus, is the perfect illustration of this solidarity and inter-African cooperation advocated by Morocco.
