This operation, carried out on the basis of accurate information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), enabled to arrest the suspect (aged 36) upon his arrival aboard a ship from of the port of Algeciras (Spain), said the National Police (DGSN) in a press release, adding that the search operation of the truck driven by this individual allowed the seizure of 17,715 psychotropic pills of the type "Rivotril".

The suspect was remanded in police custody for the investigation carried out by the judicial police of Tangier under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, in order to determine the local and international ramifications of this criminal activity, said the DGSN.

This security operation is part of the intense efforts made by the DGSN and the DGST services to fight international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic pills, the source concluded.
