El Kelâa des Sraghna Prison Administration Denies Allegations on Inmate's Critical State of Health

Rabat - The administration of the El Kelâa des Sraghna local prison has described as untrue the allegations made by the mother of detainee (SB) according to which her son's state of health is critical and that he was allegedly harassed by one of the prison employees.

In a corrective issued on Wednesday, in reaction to a video posted on electronic websites in which the mother of the detainee claims that "her son, who swallowed a nail clipper, is in a critical state of health and that he is harassed by one of the employees", the prison administration said that the prisoner benefits from the necessary health care.

On June 03, 2021, the detainee informed the prison administration that he had swallowed a nail clipper since May 09, 2021 for family reasons, added the same source, specifying that the detainee was immediately examined by the prison doctor, who prescribed the necessary treatment while ensuring that his state of health is stable. The detainee was subsequently placed under medical supervision.

In addition, it said that the detainee has a history of self-harm in the penitentiaries he was in before his transfer to the local prison of El Kelâa des Sraghna.
