The meeting was an opportunity to discuss several issues of a national, international and bilateral nature as well as ways to develop relations between the two countries, the goal being to give them impetus and dynamism.
Particular emphasis was placed on trade between the two countries in several areas, including mining, economy, energy, services, banking-related technologies, automotive industry and air transport.
In a statement to M24, the 24/7 news channel of MAP, the South African ambassador noted that the meeting touched on different aspects of bilateral cooperation, expressing his country's ambition to achieve closer cooperation with Morocco.
"We want to have closer cooperation, especially in the cultural field (...) We are impatient to work with Morocco," he said.
"I see several areas of cooperation for our two countries," said the South African diplomat, who commended the Moroccan news agency for its "excellent work".
During this meeting, the diplomat said he was "impressed" by the progress made by Morocco in terms of infrastructure (high-speed line, ports, etc.), considered among the best in Africa.
According to him, Morocco has a lot to contribute to Africa, hence the importance of "developing trade and joining the economies of the continent".
The meeting also focused on ways to develop media relations through a South African media presence within the Atlantic Federation of African News Agencies (FAAPA), which brings together around 30 African agencies.
In this regard, Hachimi Idrissi highlighted the relevance of such an approach, saying he was in favor of the participation of journalists from South Africa in the next FAAPA meeting in order to strengthen media partnership.
The Director General of MAP also expressed his support for the visit to Morocco of South African journalists and media professionals, in order to strengthen their contribution to the dynamic of relations between the two countries. "The aim is to get South Africans and Moroccans to know each other better," he concluded.
