For the month of June 2021, tourism revenues increased by 15.2%, benefiting from the gradual reopening of national borders from mid-June and the launch of the 2021 Marhaba Operation, the DEPF points out in a statement.
As for tourist arrivals, they reached 71,225 tourists for the months of April and May 2021, compared to 1,710 in the same period of the previous year, of which 49.2% are Moroccans living abroad.
The number of nights spent in classified accommodation establishments has reached 690,400, the source underlined.
At the end of the first five months of 2021, arrivals and overnight stays fell by 74.5% and 55.7% respectively.
The gradual reopening of national air borders from June 15, 2021 and the exceptional arrangements of the Marhaba Operation suggest a continuation of this recovery in the third quarter of 2021 without reaching the levels recorded in 2019.
