A day later, the security services arrested 12 candidates for illegal immigration, including three minors, at a home in Al Quds district in Laayoune.

The individuals were waiting for the right moment to head for the Canary Islands, the same source noted, adding that the search of their bags led to the discovery of life jackets.

On October 26, another operation resulted in the arrest of 56 candidates for illegal immigration and the seizure of 2 life jackets.

Security services have recently increased control operations to fight against illegal immigration in the region of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, leading to the arrest of several candidates and the rescue of boats adrift.
