"We discussed how the EBRD could accompany the Marrakech-Safi region and the Marrakech City Council in the implementation of advanced regionalization, especially through major structuring projects," said de Chou in a statement to the press, following a working meeting with the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, as well as several economic stakeholders in the region.
In this sense, the new EBRD director in Morocco said that this cooperation includes projects on mobility and green investments in the region, expressing his wish to see Marrakech among EBRD's Green Cities program, which provides concrete support to help solve environmental problems and improve the quality of life.
This meeting, he added, was also an opportunity to discuss EBRD activities in private sector support, recalling that this European institution has provided support to 30 SMEs, helping them raise their productivity by more than 40%, especially in the fields of tourism and agriculture.
He also recalled that Marrakech was designated, during the 30th Annual Meeting of EBRD Board of Governors, to host the next annual meeting of the Bank, to be scheduled on May 10 to 12, 2022.
