Morocco, which chairs the group of Arab countries, participates in this event, to run until November 24, with an important delegation led by Minister of National Education, Preschool Learning and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa.
Several important decisions are expected to take place during this General Conference from the 193 Member States of the Organization, on contemporary issues related to the preservation of heritage, environment and education.
This conference will be marked in particular by the election of members of the Executive Board and the election of the Director General. Last October, the Executive Board of UNESCO had overwhelmingly approved the reappointment of Audrey Azoulay as head of the institution.
In addition, a report entitled "Rethinking our futures together" will be officially launched. This text outlines the future of education in the world by 2050. It will be unveiled on Wednesday by UNESCO Director-General.
The presentation of the report will be followed by the World Education Meeting, co-chaired by UNESCO and France, which will bring together heads of state, more than 40 ministers of education and representatives of international organizations.
This high-level event, which aims to build global political momentum to raise the profile of education and its investment imperative, will adopt the "Paris Declaration" to renew the commitment of national and international leaders to invest in education, nationally and internationally.
This meeting will also be marked by the official launch of the High Level Steering Committee on Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education, a renewed global cooperation mechanism that will play a central role in monitoring the progress of Member States and the contributions of international actors, and recommend priority actions for education.
