Speaking at a meeting with the Vice President for MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) at the WB, Ferid Belhaj, and the Regional Director General for North Africa at the AfDB, Mohamed El Azizi, the Minister said that these major donors partners of Morocco came to recall the support to the policy and vision of HM King Mohammed VI, particularly in terms of the New Development Model (NMD) and the government program, which emphasize the need for productive investment and job creation.
These working sessions were also an opportunity for the Minister to recall the main orientations of the general framework of development of Morocco, namely the High Royal Directions, the NMD, the governmental program and the appropriation bill (PLF) for the year 2022.
Jazouli also stressed the importance given to investment by HM the King, especially during his speech on October 8 at the opening of Parliament, recalling that the State must accompany and support the private sector to invest more and better.
He also highlighted the potential and challenges of investment in Morocco, including the need to strengthen private investment, and the importance of directing investment to sectors that create employment and value added.
In this context, Jazouli exchanged with representatives of the two multilateral development banks on potential avenues of collaboration in terms of both financial and technical support to improve the business climate, boost investment in the Kingdom and converge public policies.
For his part, Ferid Belhaj stressed that the meeting with the Minister was an opportunity to discuss the collaboration of the World Bank and Morocco, especially in terms of investment attractiveness, especially in the private sector.
"We are willing to cooperate with Morocco," he added, hoping that the new government will achieve a level of growth that is commensurate with Moroccan citizens.
The representative of the African Development Bank in Morocco, Achraf Tarsim, said the exchange with the Minister was interesting to know the vision of the new government, implement the NMD and accelerate sustainable and resilient growth.
This meeting was also an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the AfDB to support the new government in the implementation of its policy, he noted.
Tarsim recalled that the AfDB has been active in Morocco since the 1970s, with more than 12 billion euros of investments.
