"It is a public information hub on the road to success, whose watchwords are audacity, professional expertise and patriotism", stressed Hachimi Idrissi during a meeting of MAP's Board of Directors, which was chaired by the minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid.
Noting that MAP, which has a limited budget of 255 million dirhams, is today awaiting a strengthening of its legal position to complete its mission and its national, regional and local variations, Mr. Hachimi Idrissi pointed out that the challenge consists in "ensuring that the public information service is present in an autonomous way in the written form, in newsstands, on websites, on the radio, in images and on satellites".
Mr. Hachimi Idrissi highlighted the several challenges and changes in the information sector, underlining in this regard that the digital revolution has triggered an evaporation of the audience, a drop in turnover and an ethical collapse.
"How to find a new viable economic model? What is the part, the role or the responsibility of the State in the new model to be found?", he wondered, noting that currently the public service is challenged on its positioning to consolidate its presence.
The major challenge, he said, consists in maintaining the public information service in all segments of the information market, even going into new formats, stressing the importance of reclaiming "State sovereignty in information through the repatriation of the audience through a sufficient, professional and credible national offer".
"The voice of Morocco must not be shifted, drowned, pirated, hijacked or extinguished", he stressed, noting that this is the heart of MAP's mission as clearly defined by the law of 2018 of the agency.
The perfect understanding of these issues must "accompany us and support us so that we are up to the needs of the nation and the project that His Majesty the King, may God assist Him, has for our country," he added.
MAP's Board of Directors approved the action plan and budget of the Agency for the 2022 fiscal year, as well as the Agency's 2020 annual report and financial statement.
