Midelt: Police Arrest Individual for Alleged Involvement in Attempted Trafficking of 500 kg of Chira

Rabat - Police in the city of Midelt managed, Friday, on the basis of accurate information provided by the services of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), to arrest a repeat offender for his alleged involvement in an attempt to traffic 500 Kg of chira.

The suspect (47 years) was arrested at a checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Midelt, immediately after his arrival on board a truck transporting goods, said the national police (DGSN) in a statement.

The searches conducted have resulted in the seizure, inside the vehicle, of 20 bales of chira with a total weight of 500 kilograms (kg), said the same source.

The suspect was placed in custody to complete the investigation conducted by the competent prosecutor's office, to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity, added the DGSN.
