This inscription is part of an integrated national file developed at the initiative of the Royal Society for the encouragement of the horse, having allowed the highlighting of cultural practices, skills and knowledge related to the "Tbourida", in addition to its social significance and its cultural dimension, said a statement by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, Department of Culture.
The 16th session of this committee has also seen the inscription of Arabic calligraphy on the same list, as part of a joint submission by Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries, including Morocco, said the statement.
Morocco's record stands at 12 heritage items inscribed on UNESCO's lists, a significant number at the regional and African levels, which reflects the Kingdom's efforts to enhance its intangible cultural heritage in close collaboration between the relevant ministerial departments, elected councils and civil society actors.
