Speaking, on Saturday, on the sidelines of the signing of an agreement between the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency and Al Liqaa Center to support interfaith dialogue and raise awareness of the principles of pluralism, Younan hailed the successful efforts of the agency, under the High Directives of His Majesty the King, to protect the religious and cultural heritage of the Holy City, through its diligent action in the social and humanitarian fields.
"His Majesty the King supports Al-Quds in order to keep its Arab identity. The Sovereign's honorable stance towards the Holy City gives us hope to continue resisting," he argued.
The director of Al Liqaa Center also expressed his gratitude for the support given by Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency for the success of the Center's annual international conference, which was held on Friday with the participation of intellectuals, academics and clerics from the United States, Europe and the Arab world.
This center aspires to disseminate common values that promote coexistence, justice and peace, and face "blind extremism", he stressed.
Younan recalled, in this regard, the call of Al Quds signed by HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, and His Holiness Pope Francis, which states that Al Quds can only be a city of peace, justice, diversity and respect for the holy places of each religion, noting that "there can be no peace in the world if there is no justice in Al-Quds."
For his part, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, director in charge of the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, stressed Morocco, where Muslims, Christians and Jews enjoy all their rights, presents to the world a living example of the noble values of tolerance and coexistence in accordance with the principles of the three monotheistic religions.
He also referred to the commendable role played by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in promoting rapprochement between peoples, in order to build a common future for humanity based on mutual help, esteem and respect.
On the other hand, Cherkaoui congratulated the management of the Center for the success of the work of its annual conference, praising the seriousness that characterized the preparation phase of this important event, which is part of the commitment of the Agency in disseminating the noble values enshrined in "the Call of Al-Quds", in order to preserve the distinct identity of Al-Quds as a city that unites the values of peace, tolerance and coexistence.
He also pointed out that the duty of preserving the city of Al-Quds and promoting its special character as a multi-religious city requires perseverance and continued efforts at different levels to support opportunities for rapprochement between the followers of the three religions.
