''The position of the Kingdom is not a new fact as long as Moroccan diplomacy has always been characterized by consistency and equidistance,'' he said, noting that this does not change the strength of the historical and multidimensional strategic alliances of the Kingdom.
Questioned by MAP to comment on the non-participation of Morocco in the vote on the resolution on Russia at the UN, the African expert noted the dynamics and pragmatism that mark Moroccan diplomacy today under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
"We have noticed the return of Morocco in the African Union, the important role it plays in the situation in Libya, its constructive position in the conflict between Qatar and its Gulf brothers, the restoration of relations with Israel in the service of peace," he said.
The position of Morocco in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is therefore based on interests and principles, he said, noting that the non-participation in the vote of the General Assembly can in no way be interpreted as a strategic disalignment.
It is not a position against international law, nor against respect for the territorial integrity of States, but quite the contrary, he explained, stressing that Morocco is an actor of peace and defends the principle of peaceful resolution of disputes.
In this kind of situation, the humanitarian fiber of Morocco is reaffirmed and expressed through concrete actions, he recalled, citing the many missions and humanitarian gestures of the Kingdom to populations suffering the throes of armed conflict or natural disasters around the world.
Morocco, he said, will also contribute to the humanitarian efforts of the international community to cope with the consequences of this conflict.
